Arrangements with stakeholder groups

October 2023 – Arrangement for engagement and collaboration with the Canadian Association of Nuclear Host Communities

The arrangement between the CNSC and the Canadian Association of Nuclear Host Communities (CANHC) will help CANHC build capacity in the field of nuclear knowledge. It outlines a framework for future engagement and collaboration between the CNSC and CANHC on matters of mutual interest related to the development, production and use of nuclear energy and nuclear substances.

CANHC is a not-for-profit association that supports local governments by acting as a resource for current, future and interested nuclear host communities. As Canada’s independent nuclear regulator, the CNSC disseminates objective scientific, technical and regulatory information to the public and can support CANHC in building capacity and knowledge on nuclear matters.

Building partnerships with communities located near existing or proposed nuclear facilities helps the CNSC build trust and ensure that it is providing relevant and meaningful information to the public.

Clare Cattrysse, Director of the CNSC’s Indigenous and Stakeholder Relations Division, and Mayor Adrian Foster, CANHC Chair, sign an arrangement for engagement and collaboration on October 20, 2023.
